Position Summary:

Architectural Cast Stone is looking for an exceptional candidate to work in our CNC Department.

This is an opportunity to receive valuable training and experience in creating highly complex EPS

foam, composite, and MDF forms for high profile concrete mold products that can be seen on

projects such as Navy Pier in Chicago. Through the use of a 4-axis CNC router mill and a 5-axis

CNC hot-wire cutter we create simple and complex molds from expanded polystyrene foam which

are coated and used to create organic cast stone pieces. In this exciting position you will lend a

hand in reshaping the architectural landscape within the industry throughout Chicago, New York

and other key cities.

Duties:

  • CAD modeling.

  • Toolpathing (within Mastercam) for any forms or portions of forms that require milling.

  • Wire cutting forms and blanks for milling.

  • Milling any forms or portions of forms that require milling. This step may involve the

  • preparation of the mill for particular operations (removal of the table surface, setting and

  • squaring fences, etc.).

  • Sanding parts.

  • Assembly and gluing of parts into a completed form.

  • General shop duties such as clean-up, foam recycling, foam billet unloading, etc

Education and Skills:

Preferred

  • Post-Secondary Certificate or Equivalent Experience

  • Proficiency in Solid Works, Inventor, AutoCAD, and/or Revit.

  • Proficiency in Rhino.

  • Proficiency in other CAD software.

  • Experience operating a CNC router mill.

  • Experience tool pathing, preferably in Mastercam.

  • Carpentry / machining / shop experience

Required

  • Solid spatial relations: Ability to visualize 3D forms from 2D drawings.

  • Strong basic math skills (addition, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals).

  • Strong basic computer skills (MS Office Suite).

  • Ability to take direction.

  • Willingness to learn.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Good organization skills.

  • Ability to multitask in a schedule-driven environment with the ability to maintain accuracy.

  • Good work ethic.

  • Ability to work as part of a team.

  • Ability to lift and use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body
